Believe it or not, some of the country's most beloved ski mountains completely transform their charming chairlifts and snowy peaks into patriotic parties with a plethora of activities for the whole family to enjoy. From outdoor concerts to action-packed competitions and more, you certainly won’t want to miss out on the fireworks these destinations have to offer.
East Coast Adventures
Sugarbush, Vermont
Sugarbush has made sure to inject action, magic, and mountain bliss into every moment of this long weekend, starting with the 75th annual Warren 4th of July Parade, rain or shine! From street dancing to wacky family festivities, there’s endless fun to be had, so be sure to secure your spot on the parade route first thing in the morning! Following the parade, transition into lumberjack mode, and give axe throwing a try at Lincoln Peak Base Area. Or, if target practice isn’t your forte, spend the afternoon jamming out to live music by The Grift, Jewel House, and more fan favorites.
The list of epic celebrations at Sugarbush goes on, with kids' crafts like tie dye and face paint, and the Sunflower Daydream station, where you can plant your very own sunflower to bring home and watch it grow all summer long. Once the snow melts away, Stowe spends months looking forward to their annual Old-Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration. Not everyone is prepared to run a traditional marathon, however, at Stowe, all runners have the chance to embark on the world’s shortest marathon to honor USMC Lt. Ryan Casey. Following this iconic race, you can take a stroll through the Art on Park summer market to check out the work of some local artists, and to close out the day, make your way to Mayo Fields for some show-stopping fireworks. Stowe’s fireworks display is known to be one of Vermont’s biggest sky shows, so you surely won’t want to miss this!
Sunday River, Maine
What better way to kick off this epic summer weekend than with scenic lift rides, lawn games at North Peak, followed by ice cream and drinks, all happening on Friday, July 3rd! For the adventurous kiddos out there, start off July 4th with a scavenger hunt - the perfect way to explore the mountain on a glorious summer day. Later in the day, people of all ages can head to South Ridge for a delicious deck BBQ, or sing along to some live music by the iconic D-No & The Full Send.

Whether it’s peak ski season or the hottest days of summer, Stratton takes pride in their wealth of activities for the whole family to enjoy. So, for Independence Day, they’ve put together a full weekend guide, so you can start off this good old American holiday on a high note. Pickleball fanatics can take on a new opponent while also socializing with fellow players at the Friday Night Mixer.
